Sein 30-jähriges Gründungsjubiläum feiert das Berliner Frauenmuseum vom 7. bis 16. Mai 2026 mit einer großen Gruppenausstellung im Projektraum des Kunsthauses Bethanien. Alle aktuellen Mitglieder
des Netzwerks präsentieren neue Arbeiten und geben damit einen umfassenden Einblick in ein einzigartiges, seit Jahrzehnten gewachsenes künstlerisches Gefüge.
Der Ausstellungstitel ON HER WAY geht auf ein Zitat der indischen Autorin und Aktivistin Arundhati Roy zurück:
„Another world is not only possible, she is on her way, on a quiet day I can hear her breathing.“
Die Zukunft erscheint hier als weiblich gedachte Vision – als Gegenbild zu den Herausforderungen der Gegenwart und als Ausdruck von Hoffnung und Zuversicht. Zugleich verweist der Titel auf
individuelle Entwicklungswege sowie auf das Prozesshafte und Gemeinsame innerhalb der Künstlerinnengruppe.
Inspiriert von der Idee des antiken Symposions versammeln die 28 beteiligten Künstlerinnen aktuelle Fragestellungen und Perspektiven, die sie bewegen. Daraus entsteht ein in sechs Kapitel
gegliederter Ausstellungsrundgang – eine vielschichtige Annäherung an „Wege der Welterzeugung“ (Nelson Goodman).
Die Themen reichen von Gegenwartsdiagnosen zu Medien und Natur über Heterotopien, kartografische Strategien und kollaborative Prozesse bis hin zu Erinnerung, Geschichtsschreibung und der
Konstruktion von Wirklichkeit in Traum, Architektur und Alltag. Weitere Kapitel öffnen Räume für Zwischenzustände, virtuelle Realitäten und innere Welten sowie für Fragen von Wachstum und
Transformation.
Zentrum der Ausstellung ist eine interaktive Tischskulptur. Sie fungiert als Ort des Austauschs und gemeinsamen Denkens: Jede Künstlerin bringt ein kleinformatiges Objekt als „Gesprächsbeitrag“
ein – Essbares wie Nicht-Essbares, Symbolisches, Fragiles oder Widerständiges.
Zur Finissage wird dieses Gemeinschaftswerk in einer partizipativen Führung aktiviert. Besucher*innen sind eingeladen, am Tischgespräch teilzunehmen und ihre eigenen Gedanken einzubringen.

The Berliner Frauenmuseum is celebrating its 30th founding anniversary from May 7 to 15, 2026, with a large group exhibition in the project space of Kunsthaus Bethanien. All current members of
the network are presenting new works, offering a comprehensive insight into a unique artistic network that has grown over decades.
The exhibition title ON HER WAY refers to a quote
by the Indian author and activist Arundhati Roy:
Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. Maybe many of us won't be here to greet her, but on a quiet day, if I listen very carefully, I can hear her breathing.
The
future is conceived here as a feminine vision – as a counter-image to the challenges of the present and as an expression of hope and confidence. At the same time, the title refers to individual
paths of development as well as to the processual and collaborative nature within the group of artists.
Inspired by the idea of the ancient symposium, the 28 participating artists bring together current questions and perspectives that move them. The result is an exhibition tour divided into six
chapters – a multi-layered approach to "ways of worldmaking" (Nelson Goodman).
The themes range from contemporary diagnoses of media and nature, through heterotopias, cartographic
strategies and collaborative processes, to memory, historiography and the construction of reality in dreams, architecture and everyday life. Further chapters open up spaces for in-between states,
virtual realities and inner worlds, as well as questions of growth and transformation.
At the center of the exhibition is an interactive table sculpture. It serves as a place of exchange and shared thinking: each artist contributes a small-format object as a "contribution to the
conversation" – edible and non-edible, symbolic, fragile or resistant.
At the finissage, this collaborative work will be activated in a participatory tour. Visitors are invited to take part in the table conversation and contribute their own thoughts.
